While earning a PhD in business administration from Capella University, Karla Padilla-Reyna serves as the director of sales for Amerigroup Corporation in Seattle, Washington. In her new position, Karla Padilla-Reyna is responsible for Medicare Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans and other insurance products. She previously marketed the same types of plans for United Healthcare’s Eastern Washington Region, where she was honored for being a top producer.

A licensed stockbroker, Ms. Padilla-Reyna previously operated her own financial services agency, where she mentored a team of 20 agents. Offering services such as retirement plans, annuities, and insurance, she regularly outperformed her competition. In addition, she guided and taught business students as an instructor at Yakima Valley College.

Ms. Padilla-Reyna began her formal education at Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree in business. Graduating with honors, she was a student ambassador for the program. Later in her career she attained a master’s in business administration from Capella, again graduating magna cum laude. Ms. Padilla-Reyna also earned a social service competency-based training certification from Portland State University. A first-generation immigrant, she served the state of Washington as its Commissioner of Hispanic Affairs from 2003 to 2005.

In addition to competitive activities such as golf, chess, and soccer, Ms. Padilla-Reyna champions animal welfare. She also volunteers for food pantries and nursing homes.
